Resting Rooms, Relaxing Room, and Wheelchairs

Resting Rooms

Science Tokyo is currently arranging to open resting rooms as part of efforts to build a better workplace and enhance the research and education environment. Services such as setup, maintenance, and management are provided at each department. We have especially been focusing on women’s needs, and resting rooms are available for women who feel ill or need rest due to pregnancy, nursing, menstruation, etc.

As of September 2025 , there are 21 resting rooms on the Ookayama Campus, 10 on the Suzukakedai Campus, and 1resting room on the Tamachi Campus, including those for women only, men only and unisex.

Those who are sick or require prolonged rest are encouraged to return home or see a doctor at the Health Support Center or a healthcare facility as soon as possible.

Q. Can I use it as soon as I want to?
A. You can use the resting rooms after contacting the relevant department. Please note that reception and opening hours may vary from location to location and you may need to register as a user in advance.

Q. Which resting rooms are available?
A. Please see the eligible users in the list above. The rooms marked ‘Students and Staff (marked with ★)’ can be used regardless of the department to which they belong.

Calm Down Space

Science Tokyo provides Calm Down Spaces as places where people who are overwhelmed by stimuli such as sound and light can go to spend time quietly and calm down.

Women-only Relaxing Room

Women-only Relaxing Room

The women-only relaxing room in Main Building on Ookayama Campus welcomes all female students and female staff of Science Tokyo to take a break between lectures, at lunchtime, or any other time that the facility is open. The interior includes soothing tatami flooring, a sunken kotatsu table, and individual booths for privacy.

Wheelchairs

Science Tokyo has wheelchairs available to transport ill or injured people to facilities such as the Health Support Center.

Wheelchairs are available anytime at the security gates of Ookayama and Suzukakedai campuses for emergency use.
